our story
A Family Business, Established 1998
Maggie’s Interior Textiles was founded in the summer of 1998 in Warwickshire.
At the time, Ella was just six months old when Maggie made the
decision not to return to her full-time role in the electrical industry.
Instead, she chose to build something of her own — creating a business
that would allow her to raise her daughter while crafting beautifully
made soft furnishings.
And so, Maggie’s was born.
A New Chapter in Devon
Five years later, the family relocated to a beautiful village in Devon — drawn by family life and the coastline.
Re-establishing a business in a new county was no small task, but
Maggie’s quickly found its footing once again. Built on reputation, word
of mouth and craftsmanship, it continued to grow steadily over the
years.
Over two decades later — and four house moves on — Maggie’s is still proudly based in the same Devon village.
Growing Up With Fabric & Thread
As the business grew, so did Ella.
What began as helping during busy periods — stitching, preparing
orders and assisting with fittings — gradually became something deeper.
Sewing has always been second nature. Some of Ella’s earliest memories
are of learning to make clothes for teddy bears, later designing and
creating her own prom dress. Her creativity eventually led to a six-year career in the leather
goods industry, crafting men’s accessories including briefcases, belts,
wallets and watch straps — refining precision, patience and an eye for
detail.
For this family, working with fabric and thread has always been as instinctive as putting pen to paper.
Continuing the Legacy
With Maggie retiring June 2026 and Ella at a crossroads in her own career, the timing felt right.
Over the years, Ella has stepped more deeply into the business —
accompanying client visits, refining her craft, learning every detail of
the process, and absorbing the decades of experience that built
Maggie’s reputation.
As of June 1st 2026, Maggie officially began her well-earned retirement.
While she is still involved a couple of days a week, the reins are now firmly in Ella’s hands.
The name remains.
The standards remain.
The craftsmanship remains.
